This Mama’s Week in 5 Photos + 1: part 19

My goal last week was to survive this week. Well I’m here, I can say that. Just a little sleep deprived. Instead of complain I will share these photos of my beautiful (and exhausting) boys.

Don’t let that smile fool you. This mischievous boy started pulling himself up this week, which means he wanted to practice morning, noon and night. Oy!

This is the tail end of my week’s highlight. Benjamin played peekaboo with Gilbert behind the curtain. They went back and forth pulling at the curtain and then cracking up. It was so sweet. It’s not the best photo, but I didn’t want to miss a moment to get the camera.

This little boy is becoming quite the music man. He has been singing a lot lately. It’s a phase I hope never ends.

Gilbert took his first bath in the big tub this week. Big brother even tolerated all the splashing. p.s. Kollin took this photo.

We had to get out of our house this week after all the rain. So we took the light rail to the Children’s Museum. Benjamin loves trains right now, which made for a good day.

I did a plus one this week, because THIS boy get’s left out of my week a lot. Kollin and I tried to go on a late night date. But we go out so little we forget that everyone goes out on a Saturday. So, instead of a fancy restaurant that needed reservations we went to Shake Shake Shake, a burger/malt shop….fancy, I know.

Okay, so it’s hard to accomplish a whole lot lately so I am going to share ONE goal I want to achieve each week and let you know how it goes next Sunday. That way, I HAVE TO DO IT. My goal is to move Gilbert out of our room and into the nursery. Here we go.

Maternity Shoot: Kari Ann & Peter

I had the privilege of doing a maternity photo shoot for our friends Kari Ann and Peter. They go to our church and in our community group. Over the passed 5 years I have witnessed their journey as foster parents and now parents and I feel honored to be the one to photograph them as they anticipate the arrival of their sweet baby.

This Mama’s Week in 5 Photos: part 18

I don’t know if it’s the change in weather, the fact that we had family visit last weekend, my parenting is off, or Benjamin is just being 2, but we had a rough week. Benjamin has been very cranky and emotional. Then I feel overwhelmed when the grocery clerk says she thought 2 was bad until her son turned 3….sigh…The hope of long warm mornings spent at the park this summer keep me moving forward. Here is my week:

Someone else in this family is showing an interest in photography. This is his first attempt at a selfie.

My mom makes a quilt of each grandchild. She brought over Gilbert’s finished quilt this week, it matches his eyes. I can’t believe he will be 10 months this next week.

Benjamin had his first trip to the dentist this week. He was not pleased, however, he LOVED the guitar.

DSC_5112

Benjamin has officially been in his big boy bed/room for a week. Fingers crossed it continues.

We celebrated my brother’s 39th birthday yesterday. I’m looking forward to celebrating the first anniversary of his 39th birthday next year. Next year is the second anniversary of my 29th.

That’s my week….I hope to survive the next.

This Mama’s Week in 5 Photos: part 17

What a difference a week makes. The sun came out, Benjamin got to play with some buddies, the boys were happy and Benjamin started sleeping in his big boy bed! I am grateful!

This happened! The sun came out and the shoes came off outside. I love spring!

We spent two afternoons in the backyard. I got some awesome pictures of Benjamin actually looking at the camera. But I’m saving those for our walls and not the internet. This Mama isn’t sharing….sorry.

We went for a walk with Benjamin’s friend D, and her Mama (my friend). He loves his buddy, they are just 3 weeks apart.

This little guy started pulling himself up on things. But he likes to choose the worst places…the oven, a spindly metal floor lamp. He’s such a dare devil.

Gilbert was dedicated at church today! This is our first family picture in a long time.

The Mama’s Week in 5 Photos: part 16

I wasn’t going to do a post for this week. I didn’t take a lot of pictures and they are pretty simple. But my sister texted me a peer pressure text telling me she was “waiting.” So here I am at 10:42 writing a quick post. Here is my week:

Both Benjamin and Gilbert like to play with the doors at the bottom of this shelf. Benjamin discovered he could put his toys in them as a house or a school (hence the bus). If you can make it out in the background you can see The Count, Kermit and Fozzy Bear…they’re at school.

DSC_5109

Benjamin and Gilbert always love seeing each other first thing in the morning. Gilbert gets a big smile and Benjamin snuggles him. They got to snuggle with Dada this morning.

DSC_5116

We discovered Thomas the Train was on Netflix the week Benjamin was sick. It’s a great 15 minute distraction while I put Gilbert down for his naps.

DSC_5127

Gilbert had his 9 month check-up this week. While quickly getting their lunches ready when we got home Benjamin read to Gilbert in the other room. He said he was reading to him because he got his shots.

DSC_5139

Yea, we can’t leave anything open or out. These boys get into EVERYTHING.

I will try harder next week. We are supposed to get sunshine and 60 degree temps…whoohoo!

First Senior Photo Shoot: rained out

Today I was supposed to do my first senior photo shoot with my cousin’s daughter. We were going to do it at my aunt’s farm, she was going to bring her horse and her guitar. But, of course, it’s Washington in March, so it’s raining. We dealt with the rain for about 20 minutes. I got a few good ones, but no sunshine and no horse. So we’ll try again later. Here are some of my favorites from today:

p.s. You might recognize her from the wedding I did (here). She is the bride’s sister. It’s crazy how grown-up they are. I still feel like they should still be 3 and 4 year olds running around hunting easter eggs.

This Mama’s Week in Photos: part 15

I feel like every post I have made for the last few weeks I have talked about how awful the week is. They aren’t awful, just challenging. Well, this week was again very challenging. We started out really well, but Tuesday afternoon it went down hill. Benjamin caught a bug from a kid a MOPS (moms of preschoolers)…which then Gilbert caught a mild case of it. It was a week of sleep deprived parents and cranky, sick children. Not to mention Gilbert tumbled off our bed…on my watch. Talk about mother’s guilt. One positive is that I met with a photographer (lady and a gent) I went to high school with and she gave my some great resources. I was encouraged to hear that I’m not the only one who started from scratch.

Here is my week:

Tuesday morning we made cookies to pass the time while Gilbert napped before going on a chilly play date at the waterfront. Note the sugar around the red boots. He tends to dump the ingredients towards himself.

DSC_4887

Here is Mr. 103 Fever. This is the best he looked that day after having a nap and a little ibuprofen. He watched more TV than we want, but it keeps a sick kid happy.

DSC_4906

The next day I thought fresh air might benefit these sick boys so we bundled up and went to Pt. Defiance Park. This is how Gilbert feels about winter. Disapproval.

DSC_4952

We wandered the rose garden where Benjamin sat down to have his lunch. When I look at this picture I am amazed to see how big he is getting.

DSC_5010

On Friday I thought he was better so we went to my moms. But, he ended up throwing up from coughing so hard. For a peace of mind we went to the doctor. The doctor prescribed popsicles to help with hydration. I think this is his favorite medicine.

DSC_5062

Today, I think we are all finally on the mend. Fingers crossed. Spring is coming!
